The Blues can certainly be an emotional roller coaster. Intertwined with the uncertainty of daily life, the Blues can reflect joy and celebration , a sense of community and camaraderie, overcoming hard luck, saying what you feel with a spirit of resilience . The Blues gives you the strength to face down adversity , with an energy that drives perseverance , while at the same time enabling folks to let their hair down and simply have fun.
If any one person reflects the authentic , real deal blues , whose life is profoundly inspirational , that would be Brody Buster .
Brody Buster is a unique and eclectic musician that many folks may not know . His fiery energy and limitless passion , his music coming straight from his soul , his songs reflective of life itself , Brody putting his own stamp on every song , his personality coming through loud and clear.
Brody was just 7 years old when he first picked up one of his mothers harmonicas in Paola,Kansas and taught himself to play. He began to play professionally at the age of 12 , finding himself performing alongside legends like B.B.King ; Quincy Jones;Chaka Khan ; Keb' Mo' ; and many more . Managed by his parents , Brody was headlining blues clubs throughout the United States, playing harmonica , fronting a tight Los Angeles-based quartet called "The Bluesbusters" . In 2017 , feeling the need for something different , the multi-instrumentalist embarked on a new journey.
Founding Brody Buster's One Man Band - consisting of his high-energy harmonica skills , bass and kick drums - Brody took his One Man Band to the International Blues Challenge , representing the Kansas City Blues Society as a solo performer . Brody showed the masses in Memphis that he was an electrifying , multi-musical talent . He made his way into the finals and stole the show. Brady took home a Second Place win in Best Solo/Duo act and a 1st Place Win for Best Harmonica Player. The win led to a cross-country tour and a well-received One Man Band album - "Damn! I Spilled the Blues"
During the Global Pandemic and following the death of his brother , Brody found himself mired in drug abuse and a series of bad decisions , finding himself falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of abuse and addiction . Letting his career fall by the wayside, shunned by the community, 5 years of utter hell began to tighten its grip on him . On the brink of death, and losing everything , Brody made a decision to begin his sobriety journey , moving from Kansas to Missouri , taking what little he had left . Brody had begun his road to "Redemption".
He cleaned himself up and put everything that he had into what mattered most - Family and Music.Brody began righting his wrongs, apologizing, and making amends . Brody began to write again , pouring himself back into his music . Using music to guide his healing , the lyrics flowing naturally , Brady set his story to song - and "Redemption" was born.
"Redemption" is the first self-produced studio, full band album, surrounded by some of the finest Kansas City musicians , for Brady Buster , after 8 long years. He locked himself away with some of Missouri's best, delivering a truly extraordinary , outstanding , example of electric blues . A superb harp player , fine guitarist and drummer , with a classic Blues and Soul vocal style , Brady is sharing his life with all of us, reflecting on heartache and loss , his deep dive into substance abuse , and his triumphant return to recovery .
"Redemption" , the latest release from Brody Buster , is filled with enormous amounts of heart , extraordinary passion , and fiery, raw energy . There is a joy here that fills the spaces , a sense of community and camaraderie , music and song that reflects the emotional experiences and hardships of everyday life , but, at the same time , radiating a unique charm and warmth. Blues excitement at its finest , "Redemption" delivers the grooves , the excitement ,and plenty of power with mesmerizing honesty . Truly remarkable and a great blues album from start to finish!
