“Learn to respect the wisdom of the blues, because the wisdom of the blues and the blues itself
is the greatest music on the face of the earth. The blues has proved to have more wisdom and
understanding than any other music. And once you learn the wisdom of the story
of the facts of life, it gives you a better chance in all of life.
And I think that’s a great thing for people to do all over the world.”

– Willie Dixon

Willie Dixon - Legendary studio producer, musical arranger, composer, session player , stage performer - "the poet laureate of the blues" who wrote/co-wrote around 500 songs during his long, fascinating, and truly remarkable career . Willie Dixon - who became a voice for the broken man and troubled woman;whose songs were written simply, without pretension, from the gut level .

Emma Wilson - whose skyrocketing career has been fascinating to watch and a thrill to enjoy for several years now .  U. K. Blues Awards "Blues Album Of The Year" in 2022 and 2024 , Emma has released another incredible album, "A Spoonful Of Willie Dixon" , which showcases the fascinating talents that Emma brings with her wherever she performs . British Rhythm & Blues Artist Emma Wilson follows the well-deserved success of her exquisitely soulful, widely acclaimed, and truly extraordinary "Memphis Calling"(2023)- which was recorded at Sam Phillips Recording Studios, with the legendary Hi Rhythm Section, which has an international hit featuring the heart-wrenching duet with Don Bryant,"What Kind Of Love" - "A Spoonful Of Willie Dixon" , inspired by Emma's trip to Clarksdale, performing there, and being inspired to make an album which showed her deep respect for the blues and her admiration for the great Willie Dixon and the brilliant compositions that Willie has gifted to the world.

Recorded in just one day at Crystal Ship Studios in Sheffield,England , Emma Wilson and her crack team of seasoned musicians , a superb British band on their own , drive the grooves home with the spontaneity, the raw energy, the collaborative spirit that Willie himself would have loved to be a part of .There are four familiar classics and two obscurities , two gems that dig deep into the inner sanctum of Willies vast and expansive catalog - "Good to the Last Drop" and "It Don't Make Sense (You Can't Make Peace)".

                    * " It Don't Make Sense(You Can't Make Peace)" - Emma gives us 8 minutes of pure joy, a jazzy torch song that is dazzlingly unforgettable, the band pushing the grooves into the stratosphere. You can find this track on Willie Dixon's 1984 album,"Mighty Earthquake and Hurricane".

                      * "Good to the Last Drop" - A truly lost track that has been resurrected here thankfully - Co-written with singer Buster Benton who first recorded it . Emma tears into this with her remarkably versatile blues voice, rockin' out, giving the track a sexy, female swagger;mixed well with exceptional performances from the band who blend in plenty of funk, jazz, and blues rhythms. Check out Brian Holland's high-voltage work on the 88's and the fiery fret work from Nik Svrac.Amazing!

Emma Wilson takes the music and songs of Willie Dixon and certainly adds her own special talents to each and every track . Her vocals are irresistable , her ability to give Willies compositions a contemporary edge while holding on to the dearly beloved essence and spirit of the Blues, taking influences from the Blues and adding that very British twist. Emma's sound is certainly her own - deep Blues, sultry Soul,a little Gospel and some rockin' riffs. On "A Spoonful Of Willie" the band brings so much to every track, every member adding something special , raw , powerful , and passionate . Certainly "A Spoonful Of Willie Dixon" isn't enough . Emma Wilson will certainly have you aching for more ! Emma Wilson is definitely a talent to watch out for for many , many years to come. Willie Dixon is thunderously applauding right now for sure! The future of the Blues is in very good hands indeed!!
