If you can get past the somewhat cheesy cover of the CD (I thought Eric Wilson Adams had something to do with the California music scene , but that is noticeably NOT the case) and give Eric some of you time , you will find yourself entranced by a singer-songwriter whose strong songwriting skills , a distinctive vocal style , and the ability to adapt to different musical styles and trends , has the ability to entertain folks while bringing a smile to people's faces. With a focus on storytelling , strong tracks teeming with fine musicianship , the albums oftentimes danceable troubadour tales are framed by the warm, friendly vocals of Eric Wilson Adams.
"Because I grew up singing cover tunes...my own sound varies from rock 'n roll, blues, and country rock/blues. I spent a lot of time alone as a young boy. I had to entertain myself....whether playing with toys or singing, which along the way just made me a creative person. Some people say I am "creative". Oddly enough....I donot think of myself as creative.Stuff just happens.I am an older entertainer....blessed to be very much in shape and able. And now that I am airing on some radio stations with my new tunes...I am elated."
"Losing Ground" is a melting pot of sounds and styles . Different elements come together to create something truly special . "A Time I Had" with its driving synth and pounding rhythm would not have been out of place at many parties I had the fun at DJ'ing back in the 80s ! I have had this song cranked way up in the car as well as entertaining my neighbors while hanging out on my deck here in New Jersey . "Rock Partay" lives up to its name , a rockin' anthem that is sure to pack dancefloors and be a party favorite for many years to come. "Losing Ground",with plenty of pedal steel , is a beautiful ballad that brings to mind shades of Willie Nelson and Tom Waits. "I Have Lived" is another rocker , with some kick-ass guitar work , that Warren Zevon , and even The Eagles, would have been envious of for sure . "All Alone Tonight" is an infectious bit of country-rock that will have you singing along at the top of your lungs , and that sweet-sounding violin mixes together so well! "Destination" is pure country swing that will have you singing and dancing for hours on end. Eric Wilson Adams vocals here are just astounding, reminiscent of early Bowie , if you can believe that! Check out the late-night jazz of the bluesy "Stronger Man", the work on the 88's here is amazing!! Pure country for now people," Wicked Old Time" , is another ready-friendly track that deserves to be cranked way, way,up and enjoyed over and over again. For those who really enjoy the sing-alongs of Neil Diamond look no further than "Playin' That Love Song" ,a track ready-made for karaoke nights and late-night radio!! "Star Country" is a country-rocker that celebrates the USA , the freedoms , the hard-working , all the unique ingredients that make this country truly special .
Not a "blues album" . Not a "country album". Not a "rock album" . Is "Losing Ground' for everyone? If you enjoy a well-crafted release with much to offer , then this one IS for you. A bit schizophrenic and all over the place , overall the ingredients here blend well together , each genre can be seen as a distinct layer of ingredient in the musical cake . Inspired by a wide array of music, incorporating those influences into his songwriting, Eric Wilson Adams certainly brings smiles to peoples faces , and he certainly knows how to entertain them . Musically adventurous , it is hard to imagine fans of masterful storytelling not finding something here to enjoy . Twists and turns along this musical journey make for a really interesting trip , transporting listeners to places far, wide, and in between .
