The sound is uniquely Davey Jones , blending his Southern rock and country edges with a blues heart. Its music made to make you feel good and get your feet tapping. Davey's music is flavored by the beaches, bayous, cotton fields, and creeks; the laid-back grooves from Coastal days; and the driving rhythms from those long Southern roads. Davey has been playing his music around Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee for over 30 years. "Ball Cap Blues" took a few weeks to complete; Davey captured the moments when he felt they were just right. Some tracks were recorded late at night; others early in the morning before work, depending on when inspiration hit. That freedom allowed the songs to stay loose and honest, fitting the album's authentic spirit completely. He doesn't like being boxed into one genre; he pulls from his influences and blends them into his blues playing. That sense of freedom makes blues music - and his own unique style - so special because there's room for everyone. "I enjoy playing everything myself, if possible," says Davey. "It means that everything on the song is uniquely me and my style."
"Ball Cap Blues" opens with "Banks of the Blues," Davey's tribute to growing up in South Mississippi alongside the greats that came before: "When you grow up in this area, you're shaped by the music that surrounds you. I was born where the first rock n' roll lick was recorded (Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1936 by the Mississippi Jook Band).I try my best to stay true to myself, but also to honor those great legends that paved the way for artists like myself. "Ball Cap Blues" is just that. My version of the Blues."
