Jennifer Porter - "YES,I Do" - This is the 9th release from Jennifer Porter , award-winning musician , singer , actress , and songwriter . Although trained as an opera singer and classical pianist Jennifer considers herself a roots musician . She started playing piano at the age of five after sneaking out of bed to see boogie-woogie pianist Maxine perform at one of her parents' infamous cocktail parties .

With a beautiful voice , that drips majestically with plenty of soul , Jennifer's influences run deep , a wide range of American roots that spans across the Deep South and Southwest - Tex-Mex influences , ragtime, blues , 1970's Memphis soul , New Orleans jazz , and even some cajun spice from the bayous of Louisiana. Professor Longhair to Billie Holiday to Bessie Smith - compelling vocals and unique songwriting that sparkle with creative diversity. Jennifer has the enviable ability to easily switch from jazz and blues to country and opera , showcasing an extraordinary versatility as a singer .

Highly regarded as a true trailblazer in the music industry Jennifer is truly gifted as a performer - the Hammond B-3 , Fender Rhodes piano , Wurlitzer - she is also an esteemed actor with more than 90 professional stage credits . Jennifer has sung with Classical and Jazz Orchestras , including the world-famous Glenn Miller Orchestra . While Jennifer has been blessed with a remarkable voice that can sing jazz to blues to country and opera , she is still most comfortable at home , singing at her piano , banging out those down-home blues tunes in a red-hot 88 style.

Most interesting fact - Jennifer holds a second-degree black belt in Tai Jujitsu and has advanced training in Kali and Jeet Kun Do. Sammy Cahn said it best,"Ain't that a kick in the head?"

My own personal favorites include : the rollicking  "Before We Call It A Day" , a honky-tonk piano driven slice of horn-flavored 'Nawlins goodness ; "Yes I Do " is a sexy blend of 70's soul topped off with a jazzy flourish ; "Over You" is a beautiful , tender ballad that reaches for the heavens - and beyond; New Orleans comes back with a galeforce as CJ Chenier duets with Jennifers piano , a perfectly seasoned gumbo; "How Long"  , the Leroy Carr classic , is sexy and smoldering , mixing a flugelhorn solo with Jennifer's sweet work on the 88's , her vocals delightfully seductive and hypnotic ; "Lucky Dust (Shining Through)'' smacks of the "joie de vivre" , the feeling of joy and happiness that is such a part of the Crescent City music traditions;"Don't Worry No More" is pure blues , horn-driven , with Jennifers soul-baring vocals haunting and heart-gripping , Cindy Cashdollar on pedal steel warmly enticing ;  and something unique and different even for me , Jennifer on piano being accompanied by Randy Andos' tuba on the 1925 Bessie Smith(and Stuart Balcom) nugget , "Good Ol' Wagon" , a wonderful interpretation that sparkles with originality and shimmers with creativity . There are 8 outstanding performances on this latest release , everyone hard to resist.

Wonderfully produced , beautifully executed , "YES,I DO" is music for the soul , a spirited repertoire that is joyfully engaging . Jennifer Porter's remarkable voice , and her fascinating covers , alongside her own thoughtful and inventive compositions , make her a most noteworthy addition to the world's music scene . As a musician Jennifer is simply extraordinary . "Yes,I Do" is refreshing , ready to bring smiles to your faces  and good times with you wherever you roam!
